Bertha Gray Hayes était une employée de bureau du Rhode Island passionnée de tissage. Le soir venu, elle rentrait chez elle pour développer des motifs sur son petit métier à tisser. Ses nombreux motifs ont connu plusieurs rééditions depuis 1920 et sont toujours en circulation. Le motif Jitterbug se trouve dans les livres suivants :

Bertha Gray Hayes was a Rhode Island office worker with a passion for weaving. In the evenings, she developed patterns on her small loom. Her patterns have been reissued several times since 1920 and are still in circulation. The Jitterbug pattern can be found in the following books:
